SCDDB Board Funds Five Agencies for 2025

Posted in SCDDB News

SCDDB aims to provide various programs and services to the Stone County community. SCDDB offers day programs and residential services directly, and these six agencies presented us with programs and projects that complement the current programs and provide exciting opportunities for persons with developmental disabilities to engage in their community.

One of SCDDB’s priorities for 2025 is supporting early education initiatives like First Steps. Along with that, Abilities First will work with SCDDB to create a version of their Art Inspired program tailored to the needs of Stone County families. These events will incorporate fun and learning for the kids as well as an educational and support component for the parents.

SCDDB will partner with Crane Schools to install an inclusive playground at the Crane Elementary school. This will allow all children to have access to the playground. It will also be available after-hours for the public to enjoy. Now, families have to travel over 35 minutes to the nearest inclusive playground.

Champion Athletes of the Ozarks has provided sporting programs in Stone County like basketball, bowling, and new to 2024, pickleball, to athletes with developmental disabilities for the past 5 years. This year, Champion Athletes developed a multi-week Life Skills program that was presented in conjunction with our day program.

Cedar Creek Coffee/Coffee Creations fills a need in Stone County for supported employment programming for Stone and Taney County residents. Coffee Creations operates a coffee shop on Animal Safari Rd. in Branson, where individuals learn job skills working in all aspects of front and back of the house. These skills can then be transferred to community-based jobs where job coaching is provided to ensure success.

SCDDB has partnered with OATS for the past six years to provide transportation to day programs, employment, medical appointments, grocery shopping, and social events. OATS will be adding a new bus and route to the schedule in 2025 to alleviate the long travel times riders have incurred this year.

We appreciate our partner agencies and look to collaborate with other non-profits in the future! Contact LaDella Thomas at 417-272-0444 with questions.
